Welcome

The CFA Society of Orange County (CFAOC), formerly the Orange County Society of Investment Managers, has established the CFA Society of Orange County Foundation (CFAOCF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation.

The mission of the foundation is to foster, promote and encourage the development of professionalism by the Orange County Investment community; and to heighten public awareness of this professionalism by:

  1. Providing educational scholarships for the study of financial investment practice at colleges and universities located in and around Orange County, California; and

  2. Supervision of a select group of students of financial investments in the management of all or a portion of the investment portfolio of the corporation.

The learning experience was a tremendous opportunity to partake in. The education I received during this time could never have been taught in classroom, it’s a different type of lesson.” – Alfonso Morales

Alfonso Morales Bio - I have worked for Wells Fargo Bank all of my collegiate career. After graduation I was promoted to business Banker. I am currently seeking a job that would expose me to the international business market. I have also been considering pursuing the CFA designation.

“Being involved with the CFAOCF provides students with an excellent way to work with faculty outside of the classroom and meet professionals in the Finance Industry. Trading in the real world is very different from what you learn in the classroom. Experience with these two elements has taught me valuable lessons in my understanding of the markets.” – Daniel Kim

Daniel Kim Bio - I am currently working as a commodities broker for an introducing brokerage firm. I am registered with the NASD and hold a Series 3 license. I still have an active interest in the equities market. My future goals are to obtain the CFA designation and also do analysis for equities.

“The SMIF portfolio was a very good experience that allowed me to apply knowledge I learned in courses to real life situations. It has not only expanded my knowledge of finance/investing, but also organizing, researching, planning, and many other aspects of business.” – Roger Hua

Roger Hua Bio - I recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cal State Fullerton with a concentration in finance. In college I was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Society, Golden Key Honor Society, Finance Association, and Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society. I am currently working with our school's SMIF fund to set up the structure and create manuals for future CSUF participants.
